I used to think writing was easy, so I went to college to become a biomedical engineer. After my first science course, I knew I was on the wrong track. Instead, I found my home (and lost my science scholarship) in the Journalism school at UNC Chapel Hill. There I learned from some of the nation’s best professors, particularly Mr. Chuck Stone, that while writing might be easy, writing well is a craft I will learn forever. I also learned that as a journalist my role is not only to report or provide commentary, but to place pieces of the human experience within a larger context so that anyone can relate and understand. My passion is to help make this world a better place beginning with the way we choose and use our words and starting with the people we engage everyday. I'm also the Communications Director for a kickass organization dedicated to improving our democracy through Millennial-led solutions called Mobilize.org and will be starting my graduate studies in communications at American University this fall. Writing. Connecting. Exploring. Empowering. Inspiring. Never feeling like I'm doing enough. Writing, Editing, Social Media, Web 2.0, Branding.
My Vision for the Future
Our world be a place where everyone knows and realizes the power in their voice and in sharing their experiences.
