girl children, education and empowerment

Education for all is mandatory and especially for women as word wide realized the only through education, employment and
availing equal opportunities in the economic region alone women can find their social and economic space in any society. It is unfortunate the education has become a commercial service and the rural girl children are slowly loosing their chance of high school education of if they want to continue their education beyond the primary and high school then they need to travel atleaset 10 k.m towards the city from their place of living and the parents do not allow the girls to go to city and study due to the economic reasons and more so on eve teasing problems on their daughters and if this is the condition how a girl could move safely around the world and enrich her knowledge for her up liftment or finding her chance of liberty, freedom or any thing? The government at one end spends money like water to mainstream the rural girl children for higher education with various attractive programmes and offering facilities and other supports and even with these efforts the girl children are not motivated even to complete their high school studies and this is purely due to the reasons of psychological fear that they are unsafe on transports and even at the school due to the violence of them by the male teachers, co - student community in case of co education schools, atrocities by the managements and they are unsecured even at the home and village level and the parents prefer the marriages to their daughters than education and any other opportunities for the so called empowerment of women.
The sense of insecurity for every woman of this society is a very big barrier in women development and the social correction on gender respect especially on women is totally failed and the most recent Police reports say that more women are murdered for gains, due to domestic violence and homicides, even the school going children are killed by their parents or alcoholic father or brother or even the mother and the another major problem faced by the young girls especially the teen age girls who are school going or not is the safe living place and toilet facilities for them. In the rural villages even the government run schools do not have proper toilet and water facilities for the girl children and many a times the girl student are afraid to use the toilets in the schools and run back home for toileting and otherwise use the open toilets on the road sides.
The sex violence and abuse on girl children are a threat to the whole of women community and it is a public health issue where the public health authorities along with education, Police and local body authorities need to create awareness and take necessary steps to protect the interest of girls in the society and until them I am sure the women are deliberately losing their equality and opportunity in their society and this is not a concern for one city or town or a village but a social concern and every one should fight for the rights of women especially for the girl children and their education which is the only and one means for women to find their equal place and space in the gender biased society.
