Message from a thankful activist

As I have said before, I see myself as a restless activist. I find fulfillment and joy when I see even the slightest advancement in a cause I am fighting for, and I would like to make other people feel the same way.

I imagine a world where people will coexist peacefully. I long for the day when fighting for our rights won't be necessary anymore, because we will all have access to the same opportunities and we will all have the same rights. A community full of life, where every single person matters, is something I aspire to and that I work for.

The globalisation of ICTs has changed the way we relate to others, for bad and for good. For bad, because our 'online life' could lead us to situations where we are exposing us at risk of being harassed or bullied. However, the good may be greater: we have opportunities such as this one, where we can be listened and we are encouraged to raise our voices. In my vision of the world, initiatives like this can only improve the way we share, and all of us are invited to join.

I wish to become a Voices of Our Future Correspondent because I am convinced that the positive consequences of globalisation could be enhanced and spread through a platform like this. As a journalist and a communicator, I aspire to improve my skills in order to help other girls and women to raise their voices. But most important, I want to be part of this collective empowering experience and I want to share the joy of being an activist - even if it's online. Through this whole month I have had the opportunity to exchange with other girls from around the world, to tell them about my country, and to listen to their concerns. So, if I have reached them, I feel as if I could reach the whole world.

During this four weeks, I had the opportunity to write and express myself about personal concerns that I have identified as pressing issues in my country. Education, gender parity and recovering our historical memory are work-in-progress, and we need more voices that will help to raise awareness. I sincerely hope I will have the chance to do this through the Voices of Our Future training program, and I am thankful for this thorough experience.
