STORY OF CHANGE Child Marriage Vs Education - Pooja,17 Years Lali Village

My Name is Pooja Sharma (17 Year), I had to drop out my school after completing Class 5, as I was getting married and was asked to learn household work, take care of my siblings and work in farms. But I had a dream to be a Teacher. Whenever I used to discuss about my dream, I was beaten badly by not only my family, but have to go with lot of abusive words from my relatives and people in my village. MYlife transformed 4 years Back, when I met Bhabhisa bharti singh chauhan ( https://www.facebook.com/BhartiSinghChauhan) who came for a visit in our village for workshop throughPraveenLata SansthanSansthan and I got associated with Laadli Community Development Program. I discussed my challenges and she fought for my right to education and dreams, by counselling my parents, explaining the legal aspects and daring to take this up in my village, where girls don’t have right to speak up or dream. But Today I am in Class 9th and support the organization as Pragati Sakhis helping other girls to pursue their dreams.
Along with education, The Organization has also help me be independent and learn tailoring, Jewelry making and Beauty Parlor and trained me to be a entrepreneur. I, Now dream to start my own Beauty Parlor in my village after I complete my studies. I am the first girl in my village to travel to Price Water coopers Office (PWC) and showcase the products through exhibition and learn how beautiful the world is and this could not have been possible without support ofPraveenLata SansthanSansthan.
