Understanding War and Propaganda

\"To End All Wars\" written by Adam Hochschild doesn't glorify war, but realistically and with good research shows the making of war. WWI is the war on which this book is based, but the players and methods are in fact the way conflict escalates.

Hochschild shows us the personalities with tremendous egos, those who stand to make their wealth on death and those who stand opposed to war, as well as the soldiers, their families and communities who wave the flag believe the propaganda they are fed by the powers.

For me, the striking thing is the build-up to WWI from the Boar War about 10 years earlier. The pushing of Britain's leaders, including Churchill, but many others too, to go to war, any war was the objective of many elites, military brass, and certainly the business sector that would benefit. Such people were setting in place the groundwork for suspicion of other countries, the governments of Britain and Germany especially early on PAYING and contracting with playwrights, authors, journalists, actors, musicians, academia to propagandize the glory and need for war.

And such propaganda and endless war is now the way of our world. The danger today is, however, beyond the millions dead, is the very nature of the weapons used, the total destruction of the earth and life. \"To End All Wars\" is a book I will read again, certainly not forget. I will also speak out with more activism against the insanity of war, be more an advocate for peace and a connected world.
