PulseWire Shares Views on People's Right to Peace with the UN

Dear Members,

With great pleasure, I report to you that a document containing your thoughtful ideas and concerns regarding people’s right to peace in response to the UN Human Rights Commission’s questionnaire were submitted yesterday by email and hard copy to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Once again, you have stood up and shared your voice and the perspective of your communities to help advise global policy on key issues facing the world. It was with great honour that we worked to facilitate getting your responses to the United Nations, ensuring that women from around the world, including regions where women have little representation like Burma, Rwanda and the Philippines, were heard.

Just last month, World Pulse founder, Jensine Larsen, had the privilege of delivering your letters directly to the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet. Some of your letters had already reached her and her staff, and moved them to take action. A letter from PulseWire member Fardosa Muse of the Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya put the camp on Bachelet’s schedule of visits during her recent trip to Kenya.

Your voices have already had a great impact on the United Nations, and we are working to develop a strategy and partnerships to provide more opportunities for you to engage directly at this level of global policy-making. Stay tuned, as we will continue bring more opportunities for engagement to you, and please feel free to share your own ideas for initiatives with us!

Respectfully,
Breese McIlvaine & the World Pulse Team
