New Year brings New Features on PulseWire!

Good afternoon dear PulseWire Family,

We have recently launched two new features on PulseWire: the Online Community Leadership Program and their accompanying profile badges, and the new tagging format for posts.

The World Pulse Online Community Leadership Program:
In responses to the 2011 PulseWire Survey, many of you requested a way for members to take on leadership roles, and be recognized for their activism. We listened, and we agreed. Three months after launching our Online Community Leadership Program, the number of active leaders in our community has already grown significantly!

  • 130 Vocal Contributors and counting - more than 40 new ones since the program launched!

  • 19 Welcomers, not to mention many other amazing online community volunteers

  • 90 Voices of Our Future Correspondents

  • 107 Voices of Our Future Mentors and Editors

When Olutosin received her Vocal Contributor badge, she told us: “As you all know that I work mostly from a cyber cafe and I do not own any personal internet connection or computer. That is how it is too hard for those of us who are poor in the developing country. This shows that the little contribution which is very hard for me to make even in a country where internet is so slow and discouraging is seen by you all. Therefore, I also wish to reiterate that now that I will do my best to continue to be relevant to this cause and the online family.”

We’re so excited to have so many engaged and inspiring leaders on PulseWire, and we know there are even more of you yet to be recognized. World Pulse is also developing more roles to empower online community members with more responsibility and leadership. New Tagging Format:
When you create a new post on PulseWire, you are now asked to select topics relevant to your post from a list, and/or write in your own additional topics, countries, and regions. This feature was designed to create a simplified system for categorizing content that will make it easier for you find information on the topics you're interested in. For example, click on \"Technology and Innovations\" on the right, and you will find other related posts on PulseWire. This is the first of many improvements we're planning to make it easier to navigate the website and find what you're looking for. How are you finding this new format? Is it easy to use? Has it helped you get a better understanding of what tags are and how they work? Do you have any questions?

Since the beginning of 2012, the World Pulse team has been working hard developing and implementing the strategy our founder/CEO Jensine Larsen outlined for you in her recent blog post, “The Future of World Pulse,” These features are part of that process.

We want your feedback! Write a comment below and let us know what you think of these two new features. And stay tuned -- we'll be releasing more in the near future!
