An ENTREPRENEUR'S WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY AND RISK

A lot of people ask “Who is an Entrepreneur?’ Often a time we get lost in our thoughts on what it really is. Can I answer in my own words, as defined by dictionary or as what it means in reality? Well, I must say if I don’t know what it is from the daily pursuit to attain the success of it then I don’t know. But I must say that from my own point of view and from my experience “an Entrepreneur is a person who desires to run a successful business using available opportunity/es while going through all the necessary risk involved to achieve sets goal/objective.

I worked in the corporate world for close to 6 years and when I left I wanted something entirely different. I was good with my hands and tried to be creative as commended by few friends who saw the good in my creativity. I have passion to decorate, arrange flowers and plan events and training.

Only if I knew then what I know now, I would be leading in the entrepreneurs world..Most people think to opt into the world of an entrepreneur is as easy as ABC, but truth be told there are so many opportunities yet ,we do not have the foresight to see all the risk that are involved in the every day life of a business. I have failed in so many times yet I rise to the occasion.

The question comes in. Why do you want to be an Entrepreneur? To be candid the WHY is either for PASSION or MONEY. Until you know why you want in you will not succeed. Many a times I say to my self what would you have done differently? My answer would be “Learn more, lots of research and mentorship with a more experienced entrepreneur in my line of business.

I love what I do, my passion is to bring alive a couple’s dream by Planning their wedding with out hitch and successfully decorating their wedding venue and making their dreams come true. This I must achieve to sustain a lasting relationship with my esteemed clients whom I love so much and to create new clients.

There are so many gaps to fill in achieving our entrepreneurship spirit. The world has gone global and more and more businesses are run on line, but we must keep up with the digital world to enable us focus and meet up. Digital skills is very important in the life of an Entrepreneur and to achieve this we must constantly improve by learning new skills, developing the ones we have, follow the trend, know what your customers/clients need/s, know how to provide your services/Products to those you can and cannot reach.

Some times ago I asked a friend if she had registered her business on Instagram and she asked where the supermarket was for her to register her business. I was abashed by her response and I ended up explaining to her the best I could on what Instagram is and I went further to engage her on uses of social media and how she can utilize its uses to enable her move her business to the digital world.

Having attended Trainers Training on Computer Literacy a training organized by Poize Media and Intel. I am better equipped and using all the social media platforms I can to sell my services. I am more on line and have met a number of clients from Facebook and Instagram. Though I am still learning and trying to be on top of my game and move my business to the next level.

I have trained lots of participants on various trainings and even volunteered to train female Secondary School students on Events Management and decoration. But now I am challenged to train as many women Entrepreneurs on Digital Skills to promote their businesses using Digital skills and the social media. My focus is also on those who intend to go into business but do not know where to start. No body guided me when I started and that was a disadvantage for me, though I am back on track and kicking it. I do not want to see another woman fail. By organizing this free training to enable women entrepreneurs learn, I will be helping a sister achieve her dream by improving her business and shine more than me. I want to do something different to bring about change and be glad I did. The Training will run for 3 days starting August 23, 2016 in Abuja.

I also joined Digital Change maker 101 to learn and learn. It has been fun all the way and learning more about World Pulse.
