Keep your coins, I want change

The world has profoundly changed ever since Web 2.0 and the new media has emerged. With a single click, we could change and affect things dramatically. This is a new form of platform where different voices can be heard. It has the ability to connect you with people who matter and people who care. Web 2.0 and new media can either wreak havoc or unite millions of people who share the same passion. It’s just a matter of how you use your power with this fairly new technology. It’s completely up to your hands if you want to use this for enjoyment or as an instrument to create a new and different kind of revolution.

I think that Web 2.0 has a lot of different solutions for the global women’s empowerment movement. The first one is that web 2.0 is a catalyst for transporting information from one place to another. It’s one of its simplest functions and yet its effects are dramatically immense. If someone lets their voice be heard through Web 2.0 then their plight and concerns can easily be seen in the web which means that the news can spread with no difficulty and rapidly. Second is that it unites women from all corners of the world to bring forth and unite for their cause. It’s very easy to communicate with others through web 2.0 when you live thousands of miles apart. The third and last one is that it brings awareness to the people from all over the world and this may or may not affect them but they will be inclined to make a move to serve these people, these women who needs their help the most.

These tools are empowering to me because I know that I have the power to change these situations. I have the knowledge to inspire people to move, and that I have the resources to make this true through Web 2.0. It’s very empowering to know that I am capable of helping women from all over the world who experience different kinds of injustice and together with the people who share the same views and passion as I do, we are unstoppable. No one can stop us from calling out for change, for calling out for equality, and for calling out for what we truly deserve as women and citizens of each country that we inhabit. We are women, we are change.
