Connect in Action

Hi all! We are already finish Women Weave Red Campaign and I still have a lot ahead to tell!
I would love to paint the picture of the digital connection in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, in Argentina, in South America filled with an active lifestyle, bubbly, a city full of dualities glamorous for the visit and indifferent to those who live and pass.

The City has high income because it most economic activity is concentrated, its government is efficient and transparent.
Political participation of women and youth in the City of Buenos Aires is quite high.
There is concern about investment and taxes are translated into services and improvements.

There is free public education and private.
Children who go to public school access to Plan S@rmiento BA technological infrastructure that promotes innovation and pedagogical approach to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), provides laptops to students, teachers and provides connectivity to Internet, both in schools and outside them.

The plan Sarmiento also part of the program Connect equality where from 2010 a notebook is delivered to all students and teachers in the country to include social and digitally at all. The difference is that the city provides this support as an educational service more while in provinces with high poverty children are hungry or haven't useful books in schools and will barefoot but the digital connection is guaranteed.

Another educational benefit is that from April 2014 the public schools give free classes on different programming languages and kids can learn to program.

The good news is that in the Entrepreneurs Festival the Ministry of Education was telling that the first batch youth students programming knowledge is ready and willing to assist entrepreneurs in layout your projects!

There is also the possibility of finishing the secondary free distance for young deserters and adults.- Virtual classrooms and teachers, and from anywhere in the country, the program proposed by the government of the City is complete secondary

Finally in all public spaces, squares and parks Free WLAN Internet 24 hours allowing to be connected, information search and check outdoors and in public schools.
Free Wireless in Public Spaces, Parks and Plazas http://www.buenosaires.gob.ar/aplicacionesmoviles/ba-wifi

We have a high degree of digital literacy in children but many adults still do not know how to use ICT and Internet connectivity. The gap is even greater for women in conditions of exclusion and lack of digital education makes these women know not avail this benefit of the complimentary to study.
There is much more to be done in networks, organize telecenters that enable women to meet, share experiences and to learn is fundamental to social inclusion and growth for all.

I am very confident and optimistic about this topic.
What most concerned in this city are Violence, drugs, marginality that is so installed, and gender violence to which women are constantly exposed (myself included) for social and emotional issues. In Argentina a woman is a #Femicide victim every 30hours.
Clear this violence needs education, changes in stereotypes, law enforcement and certain tolerance 0 behaviors.

A few months ago two locals lawmakers launched a very innovative platform name Legislemos.org calling civil society, raise your voice and suggest topics to discuss, sharing information and generating improvements between citizen participation and politics.

Two of my initiatives are:

Promoting digital education for the empowerment of women in libraries http://legislemos.org/gabrielaydiego/ley/internet-free-and-free-in-libra... e-ye

Include yoga in schools to reduce the levels of violence and achieve growth of spiritual peace and states of consciousness. http://legislemos.org/gabrielaydiego/ley/yoga-in-the-schools-for-childre...

A pleasure to share what happens in my city and the digital connection for Women Weave the Web!

With love and gratitude, my best wishes
Caro
