Ambitious Health and Sustainable Wellness

I envision abundant health and sustainable wellness for my community, the world and myself. To realize my vision I am in the process of creating a transformative guide to sustainable health and wellness as a foundational document for a future non profit organization called Ambitious Health. I am approaching this project with a participatory, grassroots, bottom up methodology. First, I am creating a ground swell by prodding my community of environmentalists and health conscious individuals to write articles for our participatory website. I am challenging my community to contribute to a virtual space that promotes health and wellness for sustainable living based on their personal knowledge and experiences. The project is intended to raise awareness, inspire and empower people to engage in thoughtful, constructive and joyful dialogues along the journey to an eco and health-conscious lifestyle. I hope to found a future non profit based on the guide that disseminates compelling information and transformative resources.
The idea for this project coincided with the opportunity to form a team to participate in the North West Earth Institutes 2011 Eco Challenge. I have framed my first call for content contributions in the context of our Eco Challenge team called the Sustainability Gurus. Partnering with NWEI lends additional incentive for potential participants and validation to the project. I also partner with other organizations such as the national food network Real Time Farms. I am working with Real Time Farms as a writer, photographer and filmmaker to promote food transparency and local, sustainable agriculture. Our most recent project tells the story of the Portland Growers Alliance between Mercy Corps’ new American Agriculture Project and Grow Portland. The alliance supports refugee and immigrant resettlement through local, sustainable agriculture (see link below). This article will also be featured on the L.A. based website www.localblu.com .
I am realizing my vision of sustainable health and wellness by initiating constructive dialogues, based on compelling information, presented in a accessible format. I integrate my vision of the future into my daily actions in the way Gandhi articulated in the Mahatma’s famous quote, “My life is my message to the world.” Developing my professional skills, portfolio, confidence, health and knowledge enables me to inch closer to realizing my highest self. Seeking out opportunities like the Voices of Our Future Correspondents Program application process empowers me to take control of my future, mobilize my skills and contribute to my community.
