Self Portrait

Where do I stand?
Sometimes I wonder
on the earth
or in the clouds
or somewhere in between.
I am no either/or.
Don't try to pin me down-
you won't.
I am free to fly to flowers
that root in the earth,
And to skies beyond what you see.
No, don't box me in.
Do not tell me I am incapable of the very thing I was born to do.

-March 2010

I wrote it just over a year ago and today I needed the reminder. No one is trying to pin me down, box me in. No one but myself, when I tell myself- who do you think you are? You can't do that! You're confused. You're depressed. Something's wrong, get it together!

Today I tell myself, as a true Portrait-
I am enough.
I stand in the unknown, knowing what I do know.
And I know that I am free. I know that I stand at the brink of a new emergence. That I am nurturing that which wants to be expressed.
