Sonnet For A Friend

25 April 2010 -- Hello to everybody -- I am new to the community. I wrote a poem some time ago, but thought I would share it here for my first journal entry (seems somehow appropriate):

Sonnet For A Friend

When all the world's a friend like you
I'll dare to put aside
To meddle in occupancies untried
The stuff of life we so defend.
Oh think how sweet to apprehend
All that within us so misguides
Which suffers truth, does not provide
The things that God would recommend.
It is with fear and subterfuge
We cheat and brandish counterfeit
And fill with hollow interludes
What our minds, despite, know infinite:
That graceful beauty dwells within
Our hearts, our own true origin.
