Today is a beautiful day. We have launched into the new year with beauty, grace and fireworks; and it is my second day being a member of the World Pulse community.

Speaking for myself, sometimes the world just seems so harsh and all attempts to break the chairs of patriarchal domination, poverty, inequality and the inherent loneliness piling up somewhere in my stomach. But this year is a beautiful year, because I am so relieved to find that I could not have been more wrong.

I live in Australia, a now powerful nation born from a despised penal colony. This wasn't always a wealthy country, and I am enraged that the gap between a country such as this, and those of the developing world is often so large. Children should not have to sleep on the streets; or find themselves victimised recruits of armed factions. Every child has the right to education and a home regardless of colour, ethnicity or religion. Every child has the right to a life.

I envision for my country girls who recognise their power and worth, who know they have a voice and combined we can extend our hand to those who do not grow up with the luxuries we take for granted. This includes bridging the gap between aboriginal australians too.

women of world pulse, i extend my hand of friendship to you. my prayers have been answered in finding this community of strength and love.

i am for love, i am for peace and justice.
