promoting literacy through the power of internet.

i live in a suburban area of Lagos Nigeria. The area in which i live in can boast of one functional cybercafe. Most cybercafe have been closed down because they run practically on gasoline because we don't always have power so, accessing the internet is quiet expensive.an hour on-line cost at least a dollar why many live below a dollar a day.
my utmost desire to go on the internet is my desire to make a change in the lives of children in my area that are from economically disadvantage home who attended very poor schools.
my survey reveals that most of these children go to school without books to learn. This became a burden to me.i know that the surest way out of poverty is by education.i also believe that every child deserves an opportunity to be educated . The internet encourages free flow of communication and the world being being my sphere of contact,i know i needed to do something urgently to provoke people into positive action and the only means i can do that is via the internet
i decided to write to schools and organizations who in-turn sent books to me .i created mini libraries in such schools.my happiest moment came when i received an appreciation letter from my state education board for my work.
In the course of this, i decided to organize a seminar to educate and create awareness on the need for teachers and school owners who are mostly women the need to make a difference in the community by using the vast opportunity offered by accessing the internet and these are factors they enumerate that debars them from accessing the net.
-they are not economically empowered as the cost of accessing the Internet in high
--constant harassment, raids by security agent who believe that cybercafes are used to perpetuate internet fraud.
-overcrowded cybercafe with young men
-the stigma that women who visit the cybercafe are wayward and irresponsible.
-the religious belief by some Pentecostals that internet would be used by anti-Christ to destroy the world
- no program mes to create awareness of what the internet has to offer and.it's benefits.
i feel that technological companies should be make affordable computers.
-telecommunication companies should lower the rate of accessing the internet.
Government should have internet sections in the library.women would prefer to go to library rather than a cybercafe.
i would love to have a library with internet facility only for women
Let's work together to bring internet access to women in other to enhance literacy
