Anorexia is an eating disorder characterized by refusal to maintain a healthy body weight and an obsessive fear of gaining weight. It is often coupled with a distorted self image which may be maintained by various cognitive biases that alter how the affected individual evaluates and thinks about her or his body, food and eating.
I suffered from a different strain of Anorexia, but Anorexia never the less. My eating disorder was not of physical food, but spiritual, mental and emotional food. My self- image was extremely distorted because I was feeding on lies, wrong perceptions and lesser truths so every time I looked in the mirror I didn’t like what I saw, I always fell short in comparison to the picture that I had in my head of how I was meant to look like, feel and be. This was until I got HELP.
The bible puts it this way.... The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple (Psalms 119:130)
An Amazing Man of God enabled me to see myself the way God sees me and to believe and receive the promises that He so graciously gave me.You see, I discovered that the promises of God were already made, meaning that they were made over 2000 years ago, and I receive them for my present and my future.
When Christ died all my sins (sinful nature) were placed on Him who had no sin (who is righteous). When He died, I died with Him, and when He rose again, I also rose , a new man, a new creation having no sinful past. You see Christ took my sinful nature and in exchange gave me His righteousness, and that happened once and for all. Today, I stand everyday as one who has the life and nature of God. Even when I do wrong (sin, the action), my nature is no longer in question, even though my actions may need to change. This revelation was foundational, you see, now I am able to receive God’s promises knowing that there are no conditions to my being blessed. All one needs to do is .....1. Confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ in one’s life...2. Believe that God is who he says he is and he has done what he says he has done, receive his promises and then have what the word says is yours.
There is nothing else that I need to do to get what God already gave me. Divine health is mine because by His stripes I was healed. I am prosperous because, He became poor that I might be rich. I know what to do at all times for I have the mind of Christ. I am beautiful because, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The list could go on because His promises are numerous, but the point is this......
It is important that you see yourself from God’s perspective, knowing that Christ’s death was the greatest punishment for sin and it was enough, His resurrection was our birth. When we accept Jesus as Lord of our lives, we accept the new nature that comes with Christ.
Now that we in Christ Jesus, all God’s promises are for us NOW.
