Nepal Looks Set to Officially Recognize Third Gender

I read an article this morning that Nepal was getting ready to provide wide ranging constitutional rights to protect individuals in the LGBTI community. I thought it so interesting that so many countries in the world accept and acknowledge and protect the LGBTI community while the tone in the US is becoming increasing anti-LGBTI. While some attempts have been made in individual states within the United States to legalize same-sex marriage and while there is an increasing movement to allow same-sex partners benefits, the overall tone is one that still discriminates. With US politics moving to the conservative fringe, one cannot help but wonder what will be in store for the LGBTI community after the upcoming Presidential elections. I think the US could learn a lot from the international community if it would get over itself and see how so many states are allowing people of diverse backgrounds to become members of humanity.
