Facilitating Somali Refugee Women's Self-Help

Check out our newest people-centered development project right here in Massachusetts (usually we work with coffee farming communities around the world). We co-created this incredible project with Walaalo Sisters Project, an organization of Somali refugee women. We supplied four industrial sewing machines, a designer and all the burlap coffee bags the women could handle. They are making incredible reusable grocery totes out of the bags, which feature the logos or names of the coffee cooperatives we work with in different countries from Timor to Nicaragua. We sell the bags for the group and 100% of the proceeds go to the women. This has been a powerful and personally meaningful project for all involved. www.deansbeans.com
