"Rise and Rise Again Until Lambs Become Lions

I had friend who went through school unable to read or write, her name was GILLIAN. She told me her story years ago and said she went through high school and they passed her with out being able to read or write. When she was around 45 or older she went to project literacy and learned to read and write, she was very determined. About 4 years ago Gillian passed away and I was invited to her memorial service. She had arranged for there to be a party for her friends, the place was filled with balloons and catered food and gifts for everyone. THE GIFTS CONSISTED OF ONE OF GILLIANS BOOKS.. She had written several..She never gave up and wrote a poem and story to be read to us as if she were there.She went from not being able to read to being a published author.

For me this was very inspiring and the fact I had known her since 1986 and learned so much from her. She had many other talents and a great sense of humor. At times I see and meet many people who are afraid to try or make a change,and Gillians story is one that so many can benefit from.

Many people come from a disadvantaged place and I believe like Gillian that there are possibilities that can lead them to their own personal dream
