Beautiful day.

So, I have been talking about this project for a while now. I would be staying in the home with the children to try and gauge how they perceive the world and relate to it. The first time I thought of this my friends thought I was crazy. Besides I am just an undergraduate Psychology student and not an ethnographer. I had not gotten permission and a supervisor for this project. And when I told them that it is not part of my course work, they psycho analyzed me and deemed me "Psychotic!"
I am not Psychotic just an advocate of positive Psychology. I love making people feel good about themselves and so I thought why not make a difference? Why not stay with these children, get a feel of their daily life and work with them.
I just finished working on my proposal to be presented to my lecturers and that is why today is a beautiful day! I will see to it that the necessary changes are made and that it all goes great!
My focus is on how their social development affects their personality. How do they view the world and what do they think of the future? What are their dreams and aspirations? I am looking into this and more. I know that currently in Kenya, 24 million children under the age of 15 are in Charitable Children's Institutions. I also know that these institutions face many challenges such as under staffing, inadequate basic needs, resources to maintain the homes and more. But I know that at least with my basic understanding and passion with regards to Psychology can help make a difference. So with my friends slowly seeing the good side of this, I hope many more will... today is a beautiful day, I strive to make tomorrow even awesome.
