Introducing myself and my journal: Be the Voice to the Girl Child

About Me:

My name is Mirina Nanziri! I am writing on behalf of Empower and Care Organization (“EACO”). I would like to inquire volunteers and donors who would come and support our project about Be the Voice to the Girl Child Project.

The Empower And Care Organization provides physical and psychosocial support to marginalized and at-risk women, vulnerable children & orphans, youth and the elderly living in the Mukono district. The organization seeks to empower women through economic development, which it achieves through education programs, vocational training, and the provision of health care.

Summary
Within the Mukono Region, the causes of commercial sexual exploitation of children are diverse. While it may be easy to place blame on criminal syndicates, to reduce exploiters to pimps and perverts, to disparage the children themselves as promiscuous or sexually irresponsible, no social sectors can escape responsibility for sexual exploitation of children.

Large numbers of the population in the region are chronically disadvantaged economically and have little access to alternative sources of livelihoods. The demands of survival for this group can precipitate sex trade. Poverty stricken families send their children to towns to look for employment but since they are illiterate, they are unable to secure well paid employment, which in turn leads to incidences of sexual abuse and exploitation.

How this project will solve this problem if Funded
This project will help to create mass awareness and public action on Girl child domestic labor in the community aiming at eliminating all forms of Girl child labor and provide free quality and compulsory primary education to all children.

Potential Long Term Impact
This project will help girls and women to be transformed from a state of hopelessness to a state of Excellence hence freeing them from exploitation and fully exhaust their potential.

Project Message
Since I came into this area, have seen most of the girls in Mukono need significant emotional healing. These girls are so withdrawn, submissive and subdued that they put up with anything in the course.

As your extending your work to other parts of the world, EACO needs your support and cooperation.
