Let’s stick to one another and show the world how powerful we are as women. When I got married, I wanted to prove to my husband that I am now a woman not a girl this was because he treated me as a girl. He was the one providing all my needs and every time I needed something I had to wait for him to come and I ask or I had to beg for his permission to do anything I wanted as far as financing was concerned. Though it was good because he provided everything for me, I was not satisfied because I did nothing. I wanted to support him and myself. But I was hush down because he thought his friends will laugh at him saying, He cannot take care of a woman. I want to pass on this experience of mine to other women. When I was hush down by my husband I felt bad ,it was like I don’t have a voice or anything to do in the welfare of the family and this thought disturbed me a lot .He always think I will overtake him but I told him no. I felt very bad about it to the extent that I thought of divorcing him but that did not boarder him. His attitude made me to feel inferior, I changed my attitude in the house, in bed, and he noticed it. Our marriage and love was dying and even to dine with him was difficult.

I did this not because I wanted to compete or stubborn toward him but because I wanted financial independence and my husband understood this.

As time went by I realized he won’t accept so I decided to do business at home. I told my husband about it and he accepted but I could see that he was not really happy with the idea. I did not relent my effort. Since I wanted to go out and do business I did it at home. I engaged in the frying of groundnuts and cracking of egusi to distribute in the market and to my neighbors. With this I still made profits because of my interest and determination I had in me to make my own wealth. I was unstoppable! I continued with this business and it yielded profit. As time went on, I got engaged in little businesses, I started selling oranges and selling of cold drinks that kept me busy most of the time.my petty business was great and it was profitable.

My husband and I lived for 18 years and we had 5 kids. When he died, I stood up with all zeal, knowledge and power to work without wasting any minute in my life. After his death, I did not give up. I went out and acquired more skills in the production of beauty products so as to support myself and I know he is very proud of me.

Today I am aspiring to be an entrepreneur who deals in the production of beauty products. I want to establish an economic framework where women can come together and share ideas. A place where our voices can be heard, a place where our wealth can be seen.

I want to help women to get involve in marketing and gain skills so that they can also in return help other women to come out of their slumber.
