Introducing myself and my journal: Women's Justice, Women's Lives

About Me:
I've been writing and working on women's issues and gender issues for 15 years. My doctorate in education is on the gender identities of adolescent religious Jewish girls in Israel. My first book, to be published in Nov 2011 by Hadassah Brandeis, entitled, \"The Men's Section: Orthodox Jewish men in an egalitarian world\", looks at how Jewish culture socializes for masculinity, and how some Orthodox men grapple with the tension between their socialization and feminist ideas and practices. I have a regular weekly column on gender issues at The Forward, Sisterhood (www.forward.com). I've worked as a volunteer and as a professional for several feminist organizations, including Mavoi Satum, Kolech, The Center for Women's Justice, and more. I've taught gender issues in a bunch of different places, including the Florence Melton Adult Mini School in Melbourne, Bar Ilan University, Efrata College, Young Judea, and more. I sit on the women's council of the city of Modi'in, where I live, and try to promote gender issues from the local to the national to the international level.
