I found this great link on the International Museum of Women's website and thought I would share it here. It is part of their "Exhibiting You" exhibit; I.M.O.W.'s latest online project where they are showcasing the talents of our global community.

The "Incognito" series presents Cambodian women as attractive, rich and complex -- they are, at the same time, both extremely global and unmistakably local. It seeks to portray the Asian woman as something very different from an exotic and subjected object. http://www.imow.org/community/stories/viewStory?storyId=2583

I checked it out, and I think it is o.k. It reminds me of world pulse, how they talk about different matters from their perceptive. Thanks for pointing it out.

I like the clothes but not the fact that they have to hide there faces... It is man's fault if they can't handle seeing women! (Puff up angry) Well, I just don't like the fact that women have to cover up and if they don't they get stoned or raped... But One day Mina will change the world, you'll see! Mina also likes the fact that --finally-- Asia women are seen as women, not a 'smex' thing. You are awesome!!!

"Fight fire with fire, you'll end up with ashes." "A charming lady does not follow the crowd, she is herself."

hi! I just checked out the link for cambodian women-incognito. It was interesting. I will add my own observations, if I may. Cambodian women are modest, innovative, strong, intelligent and beautiful, oh, so beautiful. Women don't wear any head covering, except if they are in the sun, then they often cover their head, their arms and sometimes their legs. They are shading themselves from the sun. Women in Cambodia are much more modest than the western woman. Cambodian women don't typically wear tank tops, or short skirts. The modern Cambodian woman is often dressed in pants or a skirt and a short sleeve blouse or even long sleeve shirt. Cambodia can be very very hot, but people there, often still dress in slacks and sleeved shirts. Many of the Cambodian women I was friends with while living in Cambodia didn't have enough money to buy clothes based on vanity. They often had only a small selection of clothing, and yet created a unique, super cute style. Unique to Cambodia-mismatched patterns, socks with sandles, strange belts. I came home wearing these clothes and getting strange looks, even in Portland. I must say that while l love these interesting mismatched super cute looks, they look especially great on a petite Cambodian woman, more so than a tall eastern european woman as myself. And yes, I love socks with sandles now. I think its so cute. They actually make socks in SE Asia with a place for the big toe. They are meant to be worn with flip flops. In regard to the exoticized women of the east, well, yes, they are absolutely breathtaking. Both their features, and their spirits. My friends in Cambodia are so lovely. Many of the teenage girls I worked with were so beautiful, and their beauty radiated from the inside out. I could gush and gush and gush about the amazing people of Cambodia. I will stop here. But, I will send a big hug to just a few of these amazing women that I speak of: Chenda, Savet, Tevy, Polly, Chanty, and so many others... You inspire me to be a better person. Your beauty is radiant, and contagious. Thank you for sharing your life with me.
