Hey guys!

It's sad! The Water and Moon Festival in Phnom Penh, Cambodia culminated in a bloody incident last night! A stampede at the bridge caused 347 people crushed to death (two-thirds of the casualties are women) and 410 people injured! As we know, sister Sarvina participated in the festival! She's been telling us she's going to miss the community as she would be in the grand 3-day celebration of concerts, fireworks and boat races! Last night it ended in a tragedy, of which their ruler was quoted as saying "it's the worst that hit Cambodia since the Khmer Rouge"!

Does anyone know Sarvina's contact number? We've been sending messages to her at Facebook, asking her how she is, but as of this writing there's no response from her yet. What a real unfortunate coincidence! Let us please send our prayers to Cambodia and its people, for our sister Sarvina specifically, that she be safe and sound at this very moment.

Heaven bless and heal humanity ...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

I have checked her Facebook account but found only her address. I should have asked for her contact number! We've been having frequent exchanges because we share the same time zone (I'm an hour ahead). She was my very first contact at Skype as we registered at the same time and groped about its features together. I do hope and pray she's safe and sound at this particular moment! God protect his people!

Nilima, how are you? I was with Warona last night in Skype. My connection freaked out during the group call ... I could hear all of them but they couldn't hear me. When I called Warona after that the line was so clear and she was able to view me on the webcam. We talked for quite sometime and she shared with me her experience when she was bitten by a scorpion, right the time it was announced she was chosen one of the VOF 2010 correspondents. While we were rejoicing, she was practically jumping and tumbling in pain and agony at the hospital!!!

And yes, Sarvina!!! How on earth do we know about her situation?!!! I guess I will try to browse other WP members who are in Cambodia and see if it can help us get updates ... all the best for all of us ...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Yes, Warona was bitten by a scorpion while she was walking down the street one evening ... and it happened just at the time we were rejoicing. When the winners of the 2010 VOF correspondents was announced, she was confined in the hospital! A scorpion is an animal which look a bit like a shrimp with many legs. It is very dangerous because it's bite is poisonous and deadly. There have been so many cases of deaths due to scorpion bites. Warona is very lucky she survived the bite but she went through so much pain and agony! She's alright now but she's at a loss on the details of the program. I guess she wasn't able to cope up with the mails Rachael sent us. We had a long talk in Skype last night and she's bouncing back to normal life .... she said she was in the office while we were talking then ...

And Sarvina ... we are all worried because there's no word from her until now! We just keep on praying and hoping she is safe from any harm and danger ....

Yes, Warona!!! First it was your encounter with some deadly animal that sent you suffering for 9 days in the hospital while we were all rejoicing, being chosen as 2010 VOF correspondents ... and now there's Sarvina in the middle of a tragedy!!! God, I do hope she's doing well! I'm praying she would come online and tell us she's safe and sound. 347 crushed to death, two-thirds of whom are women!!!! This is very very unpleasant! God protect his people!!!

I hope that our sister/friend Sarvina is safe and sound out there and i pray for that.

Please lets all have our personal contact like phone numbers and email addresses anything can happen at least lets get in touch by giving a quick call when needed, lets just send it via messages to eachother as there are spams in the net so we cant just expose it.

In solidarity and friendship, Maryan

That's right, Maryan! Sarvina was suggesting just before the festival for us to share contacts among each other. Oh my! I really feel so bad I didn't ask for her number. We've been getting in touch with each other every day since we are neighbors sharing the same time zones (just an hour difference). Look now, there's not way of knowing how she is faring amidst that tragic incident where she has been taking part in! You see, we didn't even know Warona was bitten by a scorpion and suffering for 9 days in the hospital while we were rejoicing! This is real inconvenient!

Okay, we'll move now Maryan ... we'll start sharing our contacts...

On the other hand, maybe we can check Sarvina's midwife and mentor, right? Maybe they have her contact number ...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Thank you Emie that is a good point we should check on her mentor and midwife and i hope they have it.

We used to talk over Skype and facebook most of the time but never crossed of asking her phone number before she goes to the festival too bad.

As for Warona i didnt know that, hope she is doing fine now.

All the best

Yes, Sarvina is very friendly and very pro-active! She always initiates actions in the community. She was asking for our emails just before she excused herself to join the festival! We've been communicating with each other every day through Facebook and Skype ... and now we don't even know how to reach out to her! Too bad!

As for Warona, she's up and about now ... but says she suffers a bit of pain in her legs. She's back to work and, in fact, she joined us in the group call last night ... we had a wonderful talk after the call, too... All the best for all of us ..

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Well, I don't feel glad about this incident, but I'm glad about this sisterhood :) So, any news about Sarvina?

To Nilima and Warona, glad that you're ok :)

All the best: Mia

Mia, we have no news about Sarvina yet (and Janice, too), but Rachael says she has their contact numbers and is calling them every hour. Rachael cannot get through with her calls, obviously because her calls are caught in the traffic jam among so many calls worldwide because of the tragedy. All the best for all of us...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Hi All,

I have Sarvina's number and am trying to reach her. Will let you all know the soonest!

"Tell me then, what will you do with your one wild, sweet, and precious life?" -Mary Oliver

Dear Rachael,

As long you have everyone's contact number and email addresses can we burden you with some lil more work by just coping the name of the person, phone number and email adress plus skype name in word format and sending it in the form of email so that everyone of us can have his friends'/sister's contact.

I guess that is too much to ask but i guess its the best way to overcome some of the problems as everyone of us has agreed we contact eachother.

Regards, Maryan

Hi Maryan,

I think this is a good idea. Because everyone may or may not want to share all their information, I am going to give you all access to a google document where you can fill in your personal contact information to share with your VOF sisters. Will send this out the soonest!

Kind regards,

"Tell me then, what will you do with your one wild, sweet, and precious life?" -Mary Oliver

Hi All,

I just sent you a link in your email to the new google document where you can share your information with your sisters.

Kind regards,

Hi Zozobrado

Thoughfull of you to notify group members. We are now a family. In unity we stand and divided we loss. Savirna would be safe. We pray for her that the mercy of the infinite Allah would raise her up from where ever she find herself. The creator is the giver and taker. As we all pray to him over our sis Savirna, he promosed that when we seek, we should believe he has already answered and we shall receive, if we knock it is obvious that the doors opens. In his mercy, this word shall be fulfill. We would have not course to cry but rejoy in him. For he has answers to all your worries and troubles ameen. Its important we exchange telephone numbers and even residential addresses.I will comply with this request because it is imperative, if actually we are truthful to this course.

Keep us posted as soon as you are in touch with her. Bintu

Bintu, it was Aimee Knight who first posted the tragedy at Facebook and appealed for prayers because Sarvina announced beforehand she had to excuse herself from our online exchanges because she was joining the festival! I felt had to replicate the same appeal here at Pulsewire. And, lo and behold, everyone just reacted with so much love and concern!!! This community is so amazing ... a true loving refuge for each and all!

And, yes, Bintu! God will never forsake his people! As Cambodia moves on to heal the wounds brought about by this tragic incident, it is also growing strong as a nation ... all the best for all of us...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Hi Emie Great to receive your response. How far, any news from her? I believe and trust in the Lord that he will never forsake his people as you rightly stated. He is a promising God. We keep your fingers cross waiting for his response.

Thanks alot. Bye and Cheers Bintu

Sarvina and Janice have responded to our messages... they are both safe and sound! Praise the omnipotent Father for sparing them. It's real sad, though, because too many lives are lost and the world is mourning with the Cambodians... God heal their nation!

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Many thanks to you sister Emie! Janice and I are Okay and sorry for not responding earlier as I went to province and I couldn't access to internet. It is so sad and shocked for me to see many people died like this!

Loves, Sarvina

Wow, there you are, Sarvina! For one agonizing moment you took hold of all of us! You practically united the whole community with so much love and concern! Really ... so amazing to realize we actually have each other ... one heart, one soul, one real family all over the earth! It's sad that the tragedy had to happen the way it did... but I'm real thankful, happy and proud we all belong here! All the best for all of us...

Always, Emie Zozobrado

Hi my lovely Emie and All

You are surely a sister indeed. I felt different feeling for the moments. I was in bug worry about Servina and sympathy for the people. And I was so curious for the idea of how to contact her. And I was so eager to find the good news here and I scroll down with nervousness . Lastly I happily found the good news! How nice of you all! I really love you all. See you online sisters. I didn't know about that incident .

Warm Love

Congratulations on Very Happy Teachers Day through ten years journey!

Emie, Thank you so much for reaching out to Sarvina and keeping us all posted on her safety and the tragedy in her nation at what should have been a carefree festival. It was such a relief to see her "I am safe" mesage. So, so sorry for the grief of so many.

Hi Potter,

Yes, it's so sad for Cambodia, but we're truly glad Sarvina and Janice were together and safe. It was Aimee who posted about the tragic incident at Facebook, thinking and worrying about Sarvina - because just before she left she announced she was joining that same festival that ended in a tragedy!!! I just replicated Aimee's call at WP... Bless this amazing community of loving sisters!

I remember Loy Krathom from the three years I lived in Thailand. It was a fun, joyous celebration. Part of the sport was to throw water on everyone. The little town I lived in had quite a few "farang" (Thai for foreigner) because of a refugee camp where so many of us worked. Local kids loved getting the farang as wet as possible. Another favorite was to smear on handsfull of talcum powder once someone was good and soggy. I was a mess by the end of the day. All in good, if messy, fun. I prefer to think of Loy Krathom in that way.

Thanks again for the love and support you bring our community.

Throwing water on everyone ... we have that here, too! That's our annual celebration of the Feast of St. John The Baptist. Although the whole country celebrates this feast and practice throwing water to everyone on the same day, there are places who are really bent to make this feast a big deal by using fire trucks to splurge water all over. One particular place is the City of San Juan in Metro Manila. Obviously, it's named after its patron saint, St. John! My goodness, they're crazy over this feast. It happens every 24th day of June. But there are a few instances that gets into trouble, though ... when someone, all dressed-up, on his way to an important meeting gets wet or dirty with mud thrown on him.... well, they always say its part of the fun....
