Testimonial: My Year After VOF and Being a World Pulse Featured Storyteller

In the year 2016, World Pulse I graduated as a Voices of Our Future Leader now called Advanced Digital Changemakers. And this was after taking part in the flagship training programs;

  1. Intro to Digital Empowerment and

  2. Voices of Our Future trainings by World Pulse staff

The course line of this program went across various thematics like Journal Writing where we were taught how to share our own stories, use our voice for ourselves, how to take care of ourselves, how to crowdsource supporters for our causes and projects, how to draw out our personal assets map and our resources, how to prepare our Elevator speech and Pitch videos.

With the lessons learnt, I was able to get two of my stories featured on both World Pulse and Time.com. This exposure got me another exposure of my work in the grassroots on World Youth Movement for Democracy website.

Now the big impact of the VOF training and being a Featured Storyteller is my winning the Mandela Washington Fellowship; which is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program started by Former US President Obama and sponsored by the US Department of State. This program brings 1000 Young African Leaders to the United States and this year 2017 we are being hosted in 38 Universities in the United States.

Being my first time on an exchange program and out of my country Cameroon; this experience is opening me to new opportunities, new connections and support from both my fellow young African Leaders and the American community that is hosting us. I have been able to visit State Institutions, Nonprofit organisations, NGOs, Faith Based Organisations and this is contributing a lot in empowering me on new ways to tackle the challenges faced back home in my community. I am filled with a burning fire to take back home with me new methods of implementation and best practices and ideas and have been connected to so many amazing people to mentor me and support my vision of change through the work of my organisation Denis Miki Foundation.

Thanks
