My Wish for an AIDS free Society.

I am Emily Ochieng, from Kenya.I am approaching 30 years, married with 3 children. My hobby is to see that the unfortunate people in the community are supported or assisted where possible.I will always be happy if i can get any well wisher who can assist me in supporting my community.

Our Organization is a Community Based Initiative that was registered in the year 2001 under The Ministry Of Social Services with the aim of improving the living standards of the infected and affected and the community at large, and to empower women economically and against HIV/AIDS.

The Organization also had a vision of improving food security in the community and to prevent and control HIV/AIDS by providing these activities:
-Counseling services
-Nursing Care
-Referrals
-Home visits and individual follow-ups
-Material and Social Support
-Horticultural Farming as a sustainability of the project.
-OVC care and support

The Community has 45 trained Community Health Workers/Mentors who voluntarily work in OVC care and Support Program to uplift the living standards of the beneficiaries. The 45 mentors mobilize resources to support their 1 300 OVCs of 0-12 years, and 553 of 13-17 years and 300 PLWHS.

In as much as the community struggles to support their needy people the big challenge is inadequate resources which if they could get the needy beneficiaries could appreciate and their living standards could be improved.
