About Me: I moved to Phnom Penh in June 2010 with my husband after we sold our home and our cars, put most of our stuff in storage and bought a one way ticket to Cambodia. As a former journalist and eternal writer, I am now overwhelmed by the beauty and fascinating sights in this country which provides me with endless inspiration. My volunteer position at DPA gives me a place to go every day, where I work as their English resource advisor and help with any English documents, reports, websites, etc. at this Cambodian NGO, while still writing articles and updating our blog at http://meanderthals.posterous.com

As for future plans, we are here for now and have no intention of leaving in the near future. Who knows what that means? Do we ever know what the future brings?

Hello Sydney,

Thank you for your nice note. We didn't actually choose Cambodia....Cambodia chose us as our volunteer organization had a couple of posts with NGOs here and we said "why not?". As for the story competition, I actually submitted one earlier today and hope it went to the right place as I'm assuming I followed the directions correctly.

Cheers, Gabi

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your nice comment and for sending the link to the bamboo train, which I have yet to experience!

I'm a total newbie to World Pulse and not quite sure how it fits into everything yet so would appreciate any thoughts or feedback you may have about what it means to (and for) you.

Best, Gabi

Hello,

I joined World Pulse a few days ago and wondering if there's a trick to getting friends? I'm assuming you just ask people to be your friend but have done so with a number of women and heard nothing back. Does it take time to build relationships or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for your feedback. Gabi
