Think Globally and Work Locally

I have a vision that Women from all over the world can speak up and let their voices be heard by using all the tool that are available. In addition, Women should have the ability to use the most powerful tool to raise their voices which is Web 2.0. Many Women in the world are discriminated even in powerful countries. A lot of women's issues are hidden, and no one knows about it such as, the rape issues. I have worked on a project to provide legal protection for women who are sexually abused, and noticed that women prefer not to speak against the abuser because she is afraid from him and from the society. I believe that if we bring these new tools of Web 2.0 to these women, we will do a great change in their life. How we will be able to do that change only by using Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 gives the women the chance to make relationships with other women in order to share opportunities or building friendship… etc. Through Web 2.0 the abused women will know that they are not alone in this world, and she will speak up trying to stop her suffering. Some times we can see that a group of women can use the Internet to network and come together to stop discriminating, moreover, they let the world know that they are human beings. For example, there is a campaign called 16 Day of Activism against Violence campaign. Thus, by using the new tools of using Internet, women will be aware of the campaign and events around the world and d will be able to take an action for their causes.

Finally, there is a proverb saying that think globally and work locally. So I need this training in Web 2.0, Citizen Journalism and Empowerment Training Program. This program will give me the new knowledge, and transfer what II have to the Yemeni women practically and theoretically
