The success Journey

This morning’s journey to work was not a pleasant one. No, not at all. The road was a young untared, dusty and rough. Too rough. There was a thick traffic too. The air was not moving in my \"trotro\" (a public transport). Inside the car was stuffy and hot.

There we sat each of us lost in our own thoughts. We were all thinking different thoughts but we all had one thing in mind-getting to our destination (most of us were going to our offices). We had entrusted our journey into the hands of the driver. So weather the road was good or not our focus and expectation was getting to where we had planned and paid for. Personally, my goal was to get to my cute office…fully air-conditioned, well carpeted and to start the day. Handling clients. Answering all queries about study, work and live abroad programmes. Helping clients choose programmes. So even though I feel very uncomfortable right now, I know that it is just a matter of time and I will soon get to the office.

I also noticed something; no body alighted before his or her destination because of the nature of the road, the dust or the heat. Because we all knew that the road is not forever…surely we will get to our destinations-offices or schools or the other places. Once we have paid the driver or the mate ours was to be patient and to endure the heat and the dust for the short time that we will be in the trotro till we reached our destination.
This road is similar to the road to success. In my young life I have the opportunity to learn that success is a choice and not a chance. A RADICAL CHOICE. I have also had the opportunity to meet two categories of people on this life journey-those who choose success and those who choose failure by leaving success to chance.

Those who choose success over failure wake up in life with a clean and clear cut specific goal (s) in life. They choose one road- the road to success. Those who leave success to chance subtly hail failure. This kind of people sleep during working or learning hours, spend the whole day watching TV or playing computer games, idle about, spend time complaining about how tough the economy and life is, find excuses for failures, gossip about everything and everyone everywhere every time.

How is the road to success?
It can be challenging.
Once you have chosen the road to success, you experience so many challenges. Life on the success road can be scary sometimes. You will feel weary but you need to be daring enough to keep moving on. Keep your eyes fixed on the goal and not on the obstacles at your feet. Look up and up.

There is the need to entrust our lives to the source and the sustainer of our lives. The source of our vision in life. When we surrender to him, we take our hands off the driver’s wheel and ask him to take full control of the driver’s wheel. We ask Him to drive us to our destinations- our respective goals in life. We cannot do it all by ourselves. We need to stay connected to him for wisdom, discernments and strength for the journey. We need wisdom and not only knowledge. We also need strength more than the physical strength to really accomplished what we have been all called to.
