Women can escape this dark well

Learning how to lead
With my friends at the Eagle Life Summer Program in Kabul, Afghanistan where we learned many skills to be stronger women.

I was in the car, my head resting on the window frame, feeling the warm sun and looking at the bright blue sky. The wind slowly passed through the tall trees and carried the beautiful smell of its fresh green leaves. As I thought about Farkhunda, an innocent Afghan girl who was attacked by savages, my tears fell. Why did the world have to be so unfair and cruel? Where I come from, people do not live like human beings nor do they die like a human being.

I closed my eyes and tried to imagine for one moment how life would be for women if we were respected and given value to. It was not easy. Every time I tried, I would think about women being raped, beaten up, repressed, and imprisoned by the nonsense, lies and stupidity of others. Finally, I thought of the women who had improved and that helped.

If women did not face the threat of harassment, assault, and insecurity, their fascinating talents and abilities would blossom like flowers in the early spring mornings. They would improve ten times more than they already have. I imagined myself reading a newspaper and seeing the headline, “The Inventor of micro cameras, a camera smaller than a pebble!” and see the name of a woman beneath it. I imagined going to a ministry office and seeing a female minister. I imagined women running for the presidential election and watching news from a sporting event showing the hand of a woman being raised as the winner. I imagined doing math studies and seeing a formula discovered by a woman! Only the thought made me feel better! And I suddenly thought to myself, “Well, why not?!”

Nothing is impossible. God did not create any difference between men and women and their abilities, imaginations, talents, strength and power. If men can invent machines and create and wonder, then women can do the same. Women can escape from this dark well by the correct door which is nothing but education. No one can help them but they themselves. No matter what situation they are in, they must stand up, fight against these wrong rules and regulations which do not have a critical source. They must learn how to say “NO” to violence, they must accept the fact that they are not garbage or any other nonsense they have been forced to think. Women are no less than a man who stands and calls himself her master. Women must learn how to use the golden power God planted in her heart, the golden power that includes strength, wisdom and kindness. Women must learn how to wipe off the dust of their courage. Women can be inspired by other women who did it!

We have a saying that humans can be the most soft-hearted creatures in the world, but they can be the most hard-hearted ones as well. Surprisingly, women are the most soft-hearted ones, which is not valued or respected by others. We need the strength and tenacity of soft-hearted women to create a more balanced world.

Waoh Hakima . If we could all escape this darkness indeed the world will be a better place. We all all equal. So why should we not be respected.
