Introducing myself and my journal: Thrilled to find out about you

About Me:
I work in renovation, voice over recording, and I like to write. I am amazed when people are surprised by a middle aged woman in paint splattered clothes. Until they know me, I am asked in building supply stores if "I'm doing a little painting today". I will say that, once it is known, that I'm a professional, I receive a lot of respect from the "brothers" who are the kindest people in the world. I am also asked by women how I came to this and my response is that as a single mother who was fortunate enough to own my house I had to learn the trades to float the boat, if you'll pardon the cliche. It took a while to gain the confidence to venture out and I have a wonderful partner who joined me and from whom I have learned so much. He can literally build anything.
There are very few impediments in building trades for women. We can do it. We are respected and there is nothing more incredible than being trusted to be in someone's home. The layers of history, that little embarrassed look when a particular piece of art that they or their grandparent made, how clean and special a house is.

My Passions:
Kindness, fair play, work for decent wages, environment.

My Areas of Expertise:
building repair, voice over
