What Manner of Love?

" You call it love, she calls it violence. One of the latest stories of domestic violence is that of the 23-year-old Blessing Ikhumi whose boyfriend, Cyril Okosun, reportedly bathed her with acid, ostensibly for daring to voice her decision to discontinue with a relationship she considered abusive".
This was reported in the Punch Newspaper (published in Nigeria) of May 23, 2013.

Acid bath is another way women are being maltreated by disgruntled lovers. Should we fold our arms and allow this to continue to damage the lives of young African women who are made to carry everlasting wounds?. In the case of Blessing, her sight has been affected and doctors said she may lose the use of her sight completely if surgery is not performed on her. Her chances of having the surgery appears slim because Blessing is from a poor background and she is does not have any savings because she is still a student.
How long can we take inhuman acts like this? This is a call for action to end Acid bath in Nigeria and other African countries where the act seems to be on the increase.
