Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I'm a 29 year old woman living in Canada and raised in a British-Canadian family. I live, work and love in downtown Winnipeg, in a wonderfully diverse community with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. As a Canadian, I acknowledge that I am exceptionally privileged, and that this privilege allows me to have a voice that is lost to so many. Yet, through this privilege, I have garnered an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, appreciation and understanding of the global community of women, and all human beings.

I began a university education focusing on international politics and human rights which had to be cut short, due to my meeting my spouse. He is a foreign national, so in order to sponsor his move to Canada, I had to leave school and begin work. The challenges facing immigrants and newly landed residents in the Western world is now something I feel exceptionally strongly about. I intend to go back to school and complete my studies, but for now, the world is my classroom.

I so look forward to meeting you all, and learning your experiences and sharing with you.
