About Me: I am a lucky women because I was born a feminist, with passion for equality. Racism and sexism are the two isms that really set me going. I have two children, boy and girl and 6 grandchildren and one husband with whom I have been for more than 40 years. So, yes you can be feminist and be married even in Africa!!. And , Yes , you are right to be thinking that I am not young, you are probably right, but age is a question of mind over matter, if you don't mind it does not matter!!
I am the Co-Founder and Executive Director of a Mentoring and Empowerment Programme for Young Women, MEMPROW, an organization that has set itself up to create a movement of young feminists, empowered enough to safeguard our achievements in gender equality. I believe that girls and young women have a right to know who they are and to hold their place in life as active agents for change . It is my passion for empowering young women and protecting my rights that moves me and keeps me younger than you think. MEMPROW, FOR ME IS NOT A JOB, IT IS A CALLING. I have a Bachelors' degree in Sociology from The University of East Africa, a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology from Cambidge University, in England and a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Anthropology and Women Studies from the University of Minnesota. I love reading Novels!!, I love watching Films!, I love swimming which I learnt to do when I turned sixty, and I love playing scrabble.
My Passions: empowering girls and women
My Challenges: Not enough time or resources to do what I need to do
My Vision for the Future: A strong movement of young feminists
My Areas of Expertise: Gender and Development , Organiational Development, Gender training.
