Give them a skill!

I think it is great that you want to collaborate with women around the world and exchange ideas! I will be going to Kenya in two weeks with a volunteer program to participate in the women’s education program they offer. I am not sure where in Kenya I will be placed, but I would be happy to give feedback from my experience. Personally, I think the best way to empower the women in Kenya is to provide them with a skill to support themselves and their loved ones. I found this amazing organization called Living Positive. They have an entire program to help women who are struggling with HIV. They have an entire process to ensure the women will be successful. For the first 6 months they treat the women both mentally and physically. The next 6 months they provide the women with a skill. Then the last three months they provide them with basic business skills. http://www.livingpositivekenya.org/

I think this is a great way to empower women. If you can provide them with a skill to support themselves it will help them financial and give them something to feel proud of and encourage them to help other around them!
