Honoring My Hero on International Women's Day

Newly arrived in Zimbabwe, armed with a Masters of International Development and a fairly naive view of how to help \"the poor,\" I met Clara Dube. As my boss and mentor, she helped re-shape my idealism by teaching me what community-based development was really all about. As a passionate professional and a caring mother, she also embodied women's empowerment in her work and in her life.

Now an aid worker for over a decade, I have a profoundly deeper respect for what is local and indigenous that wouldn't have been possible were it not for her. Thank you Clara!
