My Dear Mentor

Dear Vera,

So nice to receive a ‘Love Letter’ from you and a pleasure to know you. This is my first love letter (I think) ever and the idea of writing a love letter as an assignment to my mentor is an interesting one. I am so touched by your promise to listen to me deeply.

I was born in North Africa (Tripoli) from Pakistani parents and have lived in wonderful Mediterranean climate up until the age of eighteen. After that, my family moved back to Pakistan where I finished my University. I am fond of traveling with keen interest in studying the result-oriented, need-based solutions in under-privileged communities. My interest in writing about the things I see around me led me to write a short story about the life of a friend who was a child from broken family and had gone through a lot (including physical violence) in her marriage into a different culture. To my surprise the story got published in a local Pakistani magazine! But since I never had a personal mentor/coach or editor, I felt declined to write more. This is the first time I am having a personal mentor and editor for the work I want to share with the world through my writings. Exciting!

I hope to know you more too and I am sure we will through this journey of sharing feelings, emotions and frustrations of both this remarkable program and the process of writing/blogging about challenging issues as well.
