You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one…

The previous weekend I attended the session called «Vision of Ukraine: Year 2030». During 3 days successful students and young leaders from different parts of Ukraine drew, wrote down and showed their vision of our country in 20 years. In the very end we needed to describe ourselves at the age of 40. Our close community included three future Presidents and two Prime Ministers, four Ambassadors and couple of deputies. Unfortunately there were too few caring mothers and loving fathers.

Losing your professional grip is difficult and dangerous, especially in journalism. Two days without internet connection – and I need to reconsider the huge amount of cumulated information. I realize, that even when I’ll have a husband and a baby, I won’t be able to leave my job for a long time – otherwise I’ll have to forget about it once and for all. Careerism and hedonism are trendy while the child-free community expands. Among those who are not going to have babies you can see irresponsible men and women, who are afraid to grow stout and become unattractive.

I guess, you are still interested in my response to the question of self-vision in 2030. Well, I dream about a community without racism, prejudices and wars, with conscientious people, who think about future generations and protect the nature… OK, it sounds like a «Miss World» typical speech, but still it would be so great if this wish turned true. Proper education, qualified medicine and global trust – these are few more issues we lack for so much in Ukraine.

To be more concrete, when the person is lying on the bus stop unconscious, I want us to discover whether he needs help instead of passing by indifferently, mumbling something about omnipresent alcoholics. I hope our children or at least grandchildren will never ask us, what does «to lie» or «to steal» mean. «Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace…». Thanks to John Lennon, who described the world of my dream almost 20 years before my birth.

I want to become a VOF correspondent to tell about my country – I realize, that the world has lots of stereotypes about us, because there are not that many Ukrainian journalists who are able to reveal the situation to global community. My personal goal is to learn how to write about women and for women. For the last for weeks I tried to create not that firm yet, but my own female wisdom, which I’d love to share. I’m one of the youngest in the community, and I don’t want to miss my unique chance to grasp this precious experience now, when I mostly need it.

In Ukraine the word «feminist» is considered as something completely negative. Some middle-aged women work out their own style of feminism after divorce. «All the men are stupid!» – they say while watching series and drinking on their own. «I’m so happy, that he left. I don’t need to collect his socks around the flat anymore», says another «satisfied» divorced lady. These women need help so in my future work I’d love to concentrate on problems of women, who went through the relationship crash. It could be either a website, or even better – a friendly club. The form doesn’t matter. How to persuade those women that it’s possible to love again – that matters and that’s what I’m thinking about right now. And working with mentor will help me to find the right words and ideas by covering the similar issues all around the world and discussing all my thoughts with a professional.

I thank you so much for these four weeks of wisdom and trust! And of course I hope for continuation.
