Introducing me, myself and I and aspiring change for migrant women across the globe!

Bonjour, Halo, Salaam, Hola, Hello everyone (I hope people actually have the time to read this)!

A little about me: I am black, Muslim and a female, all the things in society that would statistically mean I FAIL - but NEVER.

My name is Aisha Isse and I am originally from Somalia however my parents migrated to London, UK in the early 90s due to the civil war. My parents put their heart and soul in providing and encouraging myself and my siblings to accomplish what they could not achieve in our beautiful homeland - to get an education.

I saw first hand my parent's, especially my mother's struggles and one thing I knew for sure is that I wanted to make them proud. I pursued a law degree from London and later did an exchange year in California. Throughout the years I have been highly passionate in the field of human rights, migration and refugee rights. My motivation for this role stems back to the reason why I first became passionate about helping others, as my parents immigrated to the UK and were welcomed into the community by friendly neighbours and volunteers. I then volunteered at the same community centre, helping newly Somali refugees integrate into the Camden Borough by helping translate important documents from English to Somali and explaining certain rights they were entitled to, such as social housing and schooling, just to name a few.

I then decide to embark on a Master's degree from Leiden University, in which I was exposed to the international community. I worked studied and interned, yes all three -  throughout this degree in order to gain some experience. I have been active in helping spread the word and helping migrant and refugee women, within the European Union. I also want to encourage international development of my home country of Somalia! Also known as the forgotten people of Africa!

I am now working in Brussels as a consultant whilst studying French and Dutch.

Please reach out if you would like to work with me :) aishaisse@hotmail.com or if you would like to see my CV.

Let us encourage each other :D

Dear Aisha,
I felt so sorry when i read "the Forgotten people of Africa".
No one is forgotten my dear. While you are working an awesome job, and one of your sister has joined the American Sennett. Everybody has one reason to mention your country's name. Politics and our systems of government ....brought us a lot of problems. The wonderful women like you can bring a bigger change in your land.

Keep doing good.
