My first necessary noise!

Indeed, web 2.0 is fun and exciting! It’s now evident on how media can be used effectively to work with women to discuss issues around the community and design solutions. No one gets to tell the story for me since I know best! The online forums, blogging and social networking improves linkages and networking. The integration increases skills and exposure, it enhances experience and sharpened focus since this will benefit my current role in my community. Meeting new people sounds fun and because it’s all about sharing experiences and engaging in discussions, this will be a learning experience for me.

For some time now, women continue to pave way through the assumed open doors with no direction and light. In the Web 2.0 family, women are observed to be reliable and effective agents of technological and behavior change. Women’s empowerment movement now has an opportunity for discussion, with the right resources and listeners.
This trend presents a launching pad where dreams can be captured, aspirations, challenges and thoughts about the power of women in being able to define our own destiny in a story. It’s about leadership now and beyond. The word ‘power’ in this context, is about an ultimate tool provision, for speaking out and be heard.This will instantly put government and Non-Governmental institutions to task!

What will my community remember me by? This is one of the major questions that web 2.0 poses to me. This empowers me to be motivated to change lives, as I continue to read more published stories from other change makers. It is not just about an idea, it is all about writing and sharing the idea to assess the linkages”.
The website has liberated my personal energy and talent in writing poems. This will continue to pass various messages on sexual and gender based violence that carries global consequences hence shared attitudes. So far, I have learnt that communication is a dialogue which involves people and it must liberate and support culture, though different depending on your country, but we all eat using the mouth and media is a global village.
It feels like being in a mentoring process, which I have to give back to the older and young women that I work with in the Kibera slums. The art of mentoring comes through a relationship where a legacy is given and the protégé is proud to carry it. I will continue to reflect on all the reproductive health problems that bring uncalculated consequences such us HIV&AIDS, abortion, female genital mutilation, commercial sex working and sexual and gender based violence.
As I continue to strengthen my skills, I continue to serve my community whom self esteem needs to be boosted. This is giving me an opportunity to be like a ‘participatory media corp.’ that will write and discuss important events affecting women in my community, for the world.
