A miracle to pursue my dream

A journey to completing my Secondary education was smooth as I had no financial problems comparaed to my colleagues whom I felt sorry for every time I would see them sent away of class due to school fees and other financila problems.

Reading hard was my target and pursue a Journalism and Mass communication course at University. Things turned sour after I got my secondary final result and had to pursue my chosen course contrary to my parents and sisters who wanted me to pursue a teaching course.

I was determined to follow my dream without any disruptions, despite them bringing me mnay admission forms of various forms to go to Public Universities to pursue a teaching course. I loved Journalism with the fact that it had exposure and I was good in Languages and I wasn't ready to see this rot away in a teaching course.

After a great struggle and convincing of my parents and sisters they agreed that I pursue the course of my own choice but they won't help me look for a University/College for admission. What I only asked for them is financial support to go about with looking for the school.

It was on Monday Morning, that I set of from my Village in Busia Kenya to Eldoret in search of an admission school as time was almost over for the admission season. At midday I arrived Eldoret town in Rift Valley Province, it's beautiful environment, people and it's busy status made me love the place and swear that I need to get a school to pursue my course here.

A signpost reading Alphax College after leaving the Bus park flashed my eyes and I had to move near it and read it's details in terms of direction and what it offered."Alphax College 1KM off Iten Road" the Sign post read, " But where is Iten Road?" I asked myself.

A man passed by and I asked him for direction to Iten vehicles and he was kind and told me to follow him, blindly I followed and indeed we came to the stage and ushered me to one of the cars noting that "It's only Kshs. 10 to Alphax," said the Kind man and took off.

Sitting patiently in the taxi that later took off, in five minutes I was at the school gate, and headed right away to the reception whom I later explained to the lady on the desk and asked me some few questions and asked me to give her my academic documents and Identity card which I did and went ahead to fill an admission form.

After a wait of a half an hour they confirmed my admission in the schools and that was my first miracle because I didn't expect this to happen just in a twinkle of an eye I thought it will be a story of 'come tomorrow'.

It was now late and no vehicles would take me back home at that hour and now pondering of where to spend a night keeping in mind that I have relative around with no enough money to book me accommodation for a night.

A thought of asking the kind reception lady of where to spend a night, came to my mind and guess what she said, " You can spend a night in our ladies hostels with no payment until you are able to go back home safely tomorrow,"

That was another miracle, for me because this was a commercial college that I wouldn't expect them to offer any service without cash but it happened to me.

On going back home on the contrary my parents and sister were happy for me of my determination and commitment to follow my dreams.
