A Powerful Letter to Michelle Bachelet

As an advocate for women’s rights throughout the globe, our focus is rightly on gender equity. Human rights dictate that women be given equal access to health care, education, employment access and civic participation. The goal of achieving universal access will perhaps take generations.

As a first world advocate and a woman, it is equally important that I be vigilant and maintain an attitude of “within gender” equity. My Voices of the Future Correspondent, Fungai Machirori, eloquently addresses this point in her journal entry addressed to Michelle Bachelet, UN Women Executive Director.
