SHE CALLED,TO SAY HONEY!HOW ARE YOU?

SHE IS ACCUSED OF MONITORING HIM.

SHE CALLED.TO EXPRESS HER LOVE.

SHE IS ACCUSED OF BEING OVER POSSESSIVE.

SHE ASKED,HONEY!  WHY ARE YOU LATE?

SHE IS ACCUSED OF BEING AUTHORITATIVE

SHE ASKED,HONEY!WHAT FOOD CAN I MAKE FOR YOU?

SHE IS ACCUSED OF NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE  DECISIONS.

SHE STAND UP,TO TAKE ACTION OVER ISSUES AFFECTING HER HOME,

SHE IS ACCUSED OF BEING WICKED.

SHE WANTS TO ATTEND SOCIAL FUNCTIONS,

SHE IS ACCUSED OF JOINING BAD GROUPS.

SHE WANTS TO MAKE A POINT,

SHE IS ACCUSED OF BEING ARROGANT.

SHE SAID,”I WANT TO BE A POLITICIAN, I WANT TO SPEAK FOR THE WOMEN”

SHE IS ACCUSED OF BEING A PROSTITUTE

Janekalau,

This poem really struck a chord with me. At first, I was tempted to ask you who the "She" you refer to in your poem is, but then I realized that She could be any woman — and indeed, I would say that almost every woman has experienced at least one of the situations you describe. It's amazing how so much of the female experience involves having to cope with our ourselves, our personalities and our actiosn being framed as negative. Now, I'd like to ask you something: What do you think happens to "She" after the poem's end? Does she eventually become a politician and "speak for the women?" If so, does she find a way to change her husband's attitudes, or does she perhaps leave her husband? Or if she finds herself stuck, what might the rest of her life look like?

Hello Jane...what a provocative poem! It made me think of all the innocent things "She" does out of love and nurturing that become misconstrued, misunderstood, and mislabeled. I agree with MissQuoted who said, "I would say that almost every woman has experienced at least one of the situations you describe." Thank you for sharing your poem with our community!!

In love and peace,

Terry
