Dreams: Birthing new possibilities

This is my first journal entry. Ever. I keep getting stuck. What am I supposed to write about? Will anyone find my entry interesting? Relevant? I guess I'll find out soon enough.

This has been a year of birthing possibilities. Although my numbers (numerology) told me it was coming, I do not think I could have ever imagined how rich this year would turn out to be when I rang in the New Year.

I'd been volunteering with World Pulse (the creators of PulseWire) since the summer before. It'd been an exciting, yet chaotic time. We were fearless starting this endeavor. So what if we didn't have funding or experience to launch a complex website? We had vision, commitment and passion. We were confident the rest would follow.

About the time Jensine, CEO and Founder of World Pulse, decided to take our rag tag team of volunteers and turn us into a fully functioning, paid team, I found out I was pregnant. I made the decision to not continue with the team. It felt too risky with a baby on the way to join a start-up.

Then, I lost the pregnancy. The combination of losing the pregnancy coupled with the fact I'd given up my professional dream for it was devastating.

Then, it hit me. I was not, nor had I been, in an either/or situation. My life was big enough for all my dreams. Being pregnant didn't mean I couldn't take risks. And what could be more powerful, meaningful and beautiful than helping to birth PulseWire at the same time I am birthing a baby? So, I quit my job, found out I was pregnant again a week later, and started on a new, exciting journey.

So, here I am six months pregnant. The baby is moving around as I write this journal. It's a boy and my husband and I couldn't be happier. We know men are as much a part of the solution as women. We know we will raise a boy who will listen to and respect women's voices. He will be part of the solution.

My dream is to create systems that benefit humanity. I believe PulseWire is such a system. It is far from perfect. But it exists. It is so exciting to have released our beta. We are eager, a little anxious, and a lot excited to hear our founding member's feedback and ideas. Together, we will create a website that has the power to transform lives.

What are your dreams?
Are you living them?
If not, what is stopping you?
If so, how did you get to where you are today?
Share your dreams here. You never who might get inspired to take action!

Best,
Jennifer
