Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I am trying to be an environmental activist. It is difficult, because I have never been politically active before and I don't know what I am doing. But after graduating from high school in 1997 I wasted many years being quiet, and now I can't sit back and be quiet anymore. I've gone back to college to study biology and plan to keep studying until I am qualified to do good work. While I'm in college, I want to be accomplishing something to help the earth, so together with a friend and a great professor I started an environmental club for the students there, hoping that it will become a forum for students to learn how to become part of the political process in order to change the destructive envionmental policies that exist today. I'll need lots of advice and help, because, like I said, I know nothing about any of these things myself! But you have to start somewhere right? I believe that women especially need to fight for the earth - our feminine power is so closely tied to the powers of the earth, and we have a special relationship with it. The suppression of women, I believe, has contributed greatly to the destruction of earth's systems, and after thousands of years of being beaten down and silenced, we need to speak up and join together, and add our strength to that of the earth, and fight for our right to flourish - we and the earth.
