Reintroducing Myself

I started this account in 2010 as a part of a Women's Studies class I was a part of - Women, Activism, and Social Change. It was a great class, and I learned a lot, despite my tendency to slack off on the homework. I am indebted to the professor, who was more like a facilitator of discussion, and the other individuals in my class who provided such interesting discussions and perspectives.

I try to think globally, but fail a lot of the time, which is why I'm here. The KONY2012 thing really reminded me why global perspectives are so necessary - Al Jazeera has a great site up (http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/spotlight/ugandaspeaks/), getting the voices of Ugandan citizens who lived the Kony experience, and whose perspectives are so lacking in the voices Americans are hearing. Which reminded me of World Pulse, and PulseWire, and the amazing voices I've heard here, from women around the globe, who every day gave me something to think about.

I'm lucky, for the privileges I have and for the mere fact that I was born where I was, to the parents I was. My goal is to approach voices here with humility, and to listen to perspectives besides my own without getting defensive, and to sit with what I read a while.
