I am a survivor of storms, literally and figuratively.
Literally because in the last four years, my family lived in three areas that were directly affected by Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest storm recorded in the world.
Figuratively because growing up I experienced different forms of abuse. Silence was my shield for survival. However, the unprocessed trauma caused me to be diagnosed with depression.
Physically, I have a lordoscoliosis, a lateral and curvature on my back, that is becoming noticeable as I grow older.
I am also a special needs mother.
That makes me an advocate for people with disabilities and special needs.
I often used the term “differently-abled” because although they have physical, neurological, developmental or behavioral limitations, they have abilities competence to share.
I’m here to break my silence and to break the stigma on mental illness and on disabilities.
I’m also here to learn from my WP sisters because your stories inspire me a lot.
A world that supports equality for people with disabilities and special needs. ❤
