Potential solutions to climate change:

(1) Being women, we are directly affected by climate change. We all know the succession of seasons and so when that changes, it bothers us in a lot of ways: it is often us women who work the fields, and a disruption in the seasons makes us lose many of our plants. We plant them during the suitable season, but by surprise, the opposite season appears and disrupts our whole plan! Then, our lack of production brings us famine.

(2) We will put these solutions into place to fight climate change:

-plant trees everywhere, with at least one tree in front of or near each house; this will give us pure air.

-know how to manage our waste, especially plastic waste; not throw trash just anywhere, since it winds up being carried along with rainwater to form a dump in the lake. This causes problems for the living beings there, which are important for human life!

-fight deforestation: if we cut down a tree, let us learn to plant two or more new ones!

Note: all of these potential solutions can only be implemented with the government’s support; it must make trash cans available for this waste and manage them well. It also must make trees available for us to take in order to plant them according to the government’s orders! And we prefer that these be fruit trees to fight future fruit shortage.

(3) It is important that women’s voices be heard and introduced in the decision-making process concerning climate change. Women are humans like everyone else. There are women leaders who can reflect beyond men, and so their proposals are important for society!

In the end, it is women who manage household waste, and once well-informed, they will contribute to the success. They also take care of children who, from one minute to the next, can destroy the trees planted in front of their houses.

Dear Kashengula,

Thank you for sharing not only the problems that you see in your community but more importantly solutions that can help improve the environment.  I agree with you that it is important that women's voices are heard because they can play a major role in helping solve the problem.

Kristina

Dear Kashengula,

I really enjoyed reading about your ideas for impacting the natural environment. You are absolutely right about women's awareness of plant life and water resources and how they impact her family and the natural enviromnment around her. Helping women to see this awareness they have within themselves is a clear path to positive change. I look forward to reading more of your ideas!

Best to you and thank you for sharing your awareness!
