I recently graduated from The New School with an MA in Media Studies. My research interests are focused on representations of gendered and sexualized bodies in the media, coded depictions of homosexuality in pre-Stonewall US media, and universal access to reproductive health information.
While in New York City I was the New Media Intern at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where I managed PPFA's web 2.0 social media properties and posted relevant content. My roles at PPFA were to both share information and to mobilize for causes.
I currently live near Los Angeles, CA where I am looking for work in the nonprofit sector. I am also sending out papers for consideration for academic conferences. I am interested in further exploring the issue of net neutrality and the implications it has for controversial reproductive health information, and would love to further explore issues of sexuality in popular culture à la Richard Dyer. Reading, writing, cycling, crocheting, painting & promoting equality. Insuring access to reproductive health information internationally. Mediated representations of gender and sexuality. Coded depictions of LGBT community in pre-Stonewall US media. Access to reproductive health information in the US and internationally.
My Vision for the Future
An Internet free from censorship of valuable reproductive health information. A public unafraid of the potential of adequate sex education. A global space where members of the LGBT community do not experience hate.
